Analogs | 2025-04-22
Of course, analog computers can be considered archaic now. I checked what Professor Bernd Ulmann thinks about this, he says that in the near future we will see a symbiosis of analog and digital computers.
The main advantages of analog computers: speed, energy efficiency, parallelism, continuous computing, highly efficient modeling of physical systems.
Also, one of the prospects is neuromorphic chips: analog circuits imitate neural networks for efficient AI.
Our world is analog and thus our computers should be analog as well.

generally an interesting branch of development

E-ink | 2025-03-29
I started looking at e-ink devices as an alternative to paper or smartphone-pc reading.
I ran through the vendors in this area. Many devices have android os on board hm. Its somehow very power-hungry for such a thing as an e-book, after all - autonomy is one of the most important criteria here(for me). And i dont see much point in installing an apk apps.
In the end, i settled on the pocketbook vendor. The device has linux on board, which has no unnecessary modules, and all the open source. Pros:
- Support for a large number of file formats, including images, not just text
- Access to the network, browser engine - webkit, yep, it doesnt always render normal, but its good for a reader
- Nice UI
- Flexibility in setting up books (font size, bookmarks, etc.)
- Nice vendor ecosystem
- Great autonomy
i probably wont write such longreads anymore :D
